You pay close to $2,000 per semester to get a college education and the school gives you a damn student teacher? Come on!

As if math wasn't hard enough already, they've decided to give me a student teacher. OK, so they didn't "decide" really, it's just the real teacher had a baby. But it hurts me nonetheless. I hope she doesn't take her maternity leave. It'll kill me. Already I'm not quite getting the math. Only the second day and the teacher-in-training has lost me. And not only that, but she assigns 92 problems for homework. There's no way we're supposed to do the entire section's practice problems. I don't think teachers have made us do that since junior high. Maybe not even then. Maybe she just forgot to tell us to do multiples of 5 or the evens or something.

Too bad it's probably too late to try to get last semester's math teacher again. He was great. Homework wasn't a grade, we only "had" to do multiples of five, he taught the class well, and I ended up with a B. This better not be the way it is all semester.

My other classes aren't much better. My English class really sucks. We already have a writing assignment due next Wednesday. And this class will be writing research papers. Awesome. And last semester's blow-off class has been replaced with economics - a very non blow-off class. So... harder math, worse teacher, incredibly bad English, no more blow-off class.

Political science appears to be the only class that has not taken a step in the wrong direction. This semester's teacher is a lot younger and seems very easy going. Hopefully, I'm not misjudging him and the class. Even the room is cooler. It's somewhat dark and we have very comfortable seats. It's like a movie theater in there. Far better than last semester's political science class.

Maybe I'm just not ready to go back to school yet. I hope that's it. I don't want this to feel like it's such a drag all semester long or else I may not make it.
